This photoshoot is a good reminder that location doesn’t matter. A session can be done anywhere – including a back alley. This family lifestyle session is one of my favorites. The season, the colors, the couple, the sass. Yes, the sass. This little girl was all sass! She loved to say no, and we let her do her thing because she was just too cute in her little rain boots!

We had such a great time playing around in the back alley and on their balcony, capturing the family’s love and laughter in a relaxed setting. It’s amazing how much character and charm can come from such a simple location. This session is also an amazing reminder of the importance of letting kids being kids. We don’t care about the portraits over here at Ella Photography. We care about the authenticity and the interactions between family members. We want to play. Not pose. The smiles will come after. Stop promising your kids snacks after the session after they “behave”. Just give them the snack. Run around with them. Jump in the water. Get dirty. 30 years from now, that’s what you are going to want to remember. Not the basic pose that showed zero personality.
