Welcome back to the world of YOUR OWN WEBSITE. Long time no see.
Yes. You are right. Long time no see. I took a long winter away from my responsibilities – well, some anyways. Did you miss me ? Cause I sure missed you guys. But here i am, back in gear as wedding season 2015 rolls in THIS WEEKEND. Eeek! Already? Seems like yesterday I came back from Costa Rica from Melanie & Jay’s wedding.
I wanted to write you guys a little fun post telling you what I’ve been up to! I’ve been doing so many things! I didn’t just sit around this winter! You would be proud.
Let’s see :
Duh. That’s a given. Much needed. I needed to set my mind straight as to what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. No matter how much I love photography, the job of a wedding photographer isn’t one for a lifetime. My body will start to ache real soon. For the last 5 years, I’ve been so consumed with Ella Photography that I realized that I didn’t have much else. Working from home (or an empty studio) kept me isolated. I didn’t make many new friends lately and I was never out having fun. This came more as a shock to me as my boyfriend of 6 years and I separated last september. All my friends … were actually HIS friends. Opps. Not cool.
But I didn’t just stop and sulk. I decided to grab matter into my own hands and FIND THINGS TO DO. Find new hobbies and passions. So I took the winter to do so. I disconnected quite a bit from you guys…but, I took time off put together ideas to accomplish in the near future. Great new things/events/projects coming up this year! It’s kind of exciting. Including collabs with other awesome professionals.
Yup. I really am not made to just sit around and do nothing. I need to work and keep busy!! My old boss contacted me a few months ago with a job opportunity at Laura Canada’s head office. They were looking for a studio coordinator for their online photography for a few months as theirs went on sick leave. I wasn’t “doing anything”… So, I took the job. I was responsible of making sure that the photographers did their “thing” for their product photos online and it was my job to coordinate upcoming photoshoots for their email campaigns. No, I didn’t photograph anything. I was taking “time off”, remember ? 😉 I was there for only 2.5 months – my last day was this past monday – and I already miss the team there. Good people. It was weird to be back into 9to5 mode after 5 years of waking up at 10am. I sure loved my coffee.
I tried to avoid it but I am indeed getting older. The search for the fountain of youth isn’t quite working out. I needed to find something to keep my body from freezing up. I tried 30 minute hit which has a new location in Lasalle (near my house) and i love itttt. it’s only 30 minutes. In and out and… it’s intense. Great workout! Don’t mess with me if ever you want to try to rob me! 😀
Way back when, I was part of a band. However, I had no real talent. All I did was sing. I always wanted to try to learn the guitar but … IT WAS HARD. Geez. Until, I found out that they make… wait, what ? SMALLER GUITARS ? Guitar for people that have tiny tiny hands … just like mine? Amazing. So, I got one. Started playing. and now, I PLAY. Seriously.. I’m impressed with myself. Oh.. I also own a Ukulele. And it’s awesome. I play a mean Jason Mraz.
Ohhhh yes. I know. Disaster.
For those who don’t know what podcasting is : It’s basically free online radio, which you can listen to whenever you want, using subscription based programs such as, iTunes or other. I record “episodes” talking … pretty much about nonsense, and you listen to me talk … pretty much about nonsense. Me, recording equipment, unlimited time and free platforms to share my content ? Hell of a combination. But I did it. And I LOVE it. This officially puts me on EVERY media platform the internet has to offer. Blogging, Videos & Podcasting. Right now, I have a comedy show that isn’t quite fit for Ella Photography as it’s a little raw and crude (18+ for sure. If you are interested in knowing more about it though, email me and I might be willing to send you a link) BUT, I am currently working on another show with Kim (my studio manager) that will be more appropriate (and educational) which I will introduce to all of you shortly.
I’ve been meeting a lot of new people. Talking to a lot of new people. Hopefully in 2016, I’ll be able to introduce to you a few as they will start shooting for Ella Photography. New associate photographers that will be available for your events bringing the same fun quality. It’s pretty awesome.
That’s pretty much it for now. There’s more but hey, this blog isn’t about my life story :))
Feel free to let me know what you all have been doing. I would love to know!
