There’s a reason why I love shooting weddings. It’s about people, happiness and real moments. Moments that you will want to remember forever. And you hire me and allow me to capture those special moments for you? That’s more than I could ever ask for.
But what are my favourite moment? The ones i especially love. Today, I wanted to share a few.
I’m not sure why, but the preparation is my favourite part of the whole day. Actually, I do know why. It’s the anticipation that I see in my couple’s faces as they are getting ready. The groom is hanging out with his buddies, making jokes. The bride is bonding with her girls as they get their hair and makeup done together. It’s the part of the day i get to spend the longest with my bride and grooms. I stay with my grooms 30-45 minutes and my brides, 1h30-2 hours. Plus, it’s the only part of the day where no one is rushing yet, everyone are themselves and excited for the day to unfold. After the “getting ready”, people will tend to tense up because they might have to play a part. A maid of honour, the mother of the groom or be a BRIDE! It can become nerve racking. None of those thoughts are present though in the morning.
After we start getting ready, I like to kick dad out of the room so that he can see his little girl only once she is 100% ready. Since my own father past away 14 years ago, I’ve always had a soft spot for dads and believe it’s so incredibly important to make them a special part of the day. My father would have probably called kidnappers to prevent me from getting married. hehe (i kid) Making the father walk in once the bride is in her brand new dress is a moment i cannot miss on any wedding day.
Emotional grooms win! I don’t mean that all grooms have to cry… but… a groom that’s not afraid to show that he loves his bride so much… wins. I absolutely love catching the little looks that my grooms give their brides. Priceless.
It’s no secret that I love first looks. The reason I love them so much though isn’t only because we get to take photos earlier but, because I get to give a moment alone to my couple. After they see each other, I make sure that they get a good 5-10 minutes alone so that they can talk and enjoy the first time their saw each other. It’s important because the day, from that point on, will get a little hectic and couples won’t get to be alone until the wedding is over.
You are married!!! Have a 30 second dance party! Show me how happy you are. These photos warm my heart.
Be together. Enjoy the moment. Sway to the music. First dances can be so pretty to photograph. You can just feel the love between the new bride and groom. That sounds so cliché.. Call me a sap.
Bride and grooms that pay attention to each other all day and stay close together all evening, win my heart. That’s because i get to photograph the little moments that you don’t even know you are having. Makes for the most perfect photos.
There is sooo many other moments that I absolutely love about weddings. But these are the ones I look forward too the most at every wedding. I made sure they happen (or look for them the most) because they are moments that I believe are really important.
If you have favourite moments , feel free to share here. I would love to read about them!
